For a long time I struggled with whether or not meal delivery kits were worth the price…did I really want to spend that much on food I may or may not like…what are the pros/cons? Yada, yada, yada. Well I am glad to announce after years of holding out, I finally broke down and did the thing. Let me tell you how it went…
HelloFresh sent me this box to try out and I am so glad they did. It has forever changed my life…really y’all it is life changing! Let me explain..I have 4 kids…To say we live a crazy, busy life would be an understatement. Not only is our schedule crazy, but we are smack dab in the middle of cold & flu season and with that I avoid the public as much as I possibly can. With those 2 reasons alone I would rather not load everyone up and go mingle with all the germs. So getting my food delivered was like scoring the game winning shot (basketball season, yet another reason we are low on time lol).
I cannot stress enough the ease of HelloFresh. It solves so many problems that it seems like a no brainer. We eat 80-90% of our meals at home, so we have pretty much the same menu over and over…it just makes life a little easier, you know what I mean? But with HelloFresh you get to try new recipes, without the aggravation of having to buy a bunch of ingredients you may/may not ever use again and most of their meals take less than 30 minutes from start to finish…talk about a win-win!
So down to the nitty gritty…is HelloFresh really worth it?
HelloFresh knocked it out of the park..really I was pleasantly surprised, here are the Pros:
- Ingredients are precisely measured so there is no waste. (This is a huge considering anytime I make a new recipe I waste so much, because I don’t know what else to use it with).
- It’s easy to track calories/carb count, etc.. Each shipment has included detailed nutrition info, just like you’d find on pre-packaged food in the store.
- The meals seem to be pretty healthy. I know for my family we just got the classic, which is healthier than what we would normally eat, but they also offer boxes that are more restrictive to your dietary needs.
- The three recipes we tried were all delicious. That said, all of the HelloFresh recipes are available for free on their website.
- The meals were relatively easy to make. Actually so easy my 11 year old daughter made the 3rd meal all by herself…sans sous chef.
- It gave me more time to spend with my family, living our chaotic life and you really can’t put a price tag on something like that.
Cons:
- The only one I could possibly think of for my frugal friends is the price..scroll down to see the breakdown for price.
- The don’t offer breakfast and lunch lol
Also what kind of blog post would this be if I didn’t share the final product?! In this post I featured the Tuscan Beef-Stuffed Peppers! It was phenomenal (Not usually a fan of stuffed peppers!)
How much did HelloFresh cost?
HelloFresh costs between $9 and $10 per person per meal. That’s much cheaper than eating in a restaurant. Did you know right now through this link http://bit.ly/2Z7Vi7H you can get $90 off your first month, just enter the code WRIGHTATHOMEDEC9!!! That would make each meal for a family of 4 (my family of 6 can eat the family of 4 option) at 3 recipes a week only $5 per person per meal!!! At that price you would be crazy not to try it!
